There is really no bigger compliment, than having someone tell you that you have a heart of gold. And what is even better than having a gold heart? Having gold chocolate of course!
I had some left over 3×4 inch muslin bags from a St. Patrick’s Day post I did a while back, so I decided I would use them for my kiddo’s classmate Valentines.
You will need:
- 3/4 inch muslin bags or any small fabric bag will do.
- iron and ironing board
- 1-2 sheets iron-on transfer paper
- ink jet printer
- gold wrapped candy or plastic gold coins
You can create your own heart of gold image, or use our heart of gold template. If you are creating your own make sure you flip the image so any wording is backwards when you print it. Once you iron it onto the fabric it will be back to it’s original positioning. You will print the images onto the transfer paper (make sure if you have light fabric the transfer paper says for light or white fabrics) It is important to use an ink-jet printer because the heat from laser printers can heat the paper, the paper will get gummy, and it can ruin your printer.
Using small scissors, cut around each image and iron it onto the muslin bags. Fill the bags with gold wrapped chocolate or plastic gold coins. If you are trying to avoid giving out candy, you could also create a “I treasure you” printout. Then you could fill the bag with little stickers, bouncy balls or any other little treasure you can find on the cheap.
To finish off the Valentine treasures, have your child write their name on small tags of red paper, hole punch them, and tie them onto the bags. We used pinking shears for added cuteness.
Wishing you a golden Valentine’s Day filled with love…and chocolate!!!
