Simply Notable has a new first…. One of our items was recently published in a book called Quilting Simplified by Choly Knight. You may remember my tutorial last year for the Modern Quilted Potholders. The publishers from Fox Chapel Publishing found the potholders on Pinterest. They loved them so much that they asked to use them in their book! Oh course, we agreed!
The potholders are shown on page 12, alongside Vanessa Christenson’s Reverse Hopscotch quilt. As if it wasn’t huge enough to get featured in a book, then they put me with one of my favorite designers!
The book features seven quilted gifts from bloggers like us, along with eight fantastic quilt projects with step by step instructions. I LOVE the cheater hexagon quilt that is featured on the cover!
One of my favorite things about the book is how the author provides information for at least four sizes on each project. She gives details on fabric amounts for each color, binding, backing, and also batting in each of the sizes. I wish all quilt books included this type of information. It would sure help quilters in buying just enough fabric for the project.
Another great thing about the book is that it is written for beginners and intermediate quilters. If you are just beginning and learning terminology, this book will teach you about the types of fabric, tools of the trade, applique, choosing fabrics and batting and calculating binding. This would make a great gift for someone just starting out. You can read more in depth information about this book from the author’s blog page.
Quilting Simplified is available at many fine retailers, including Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.
congrats!! This is so very exciting.
