Get out your hook and create some fun tub time for the little surfers in your life! Jellyfish crochet bath scrubbies are as fun to make as they are to gift.
U.S. crochet terms used
materials:
worsted weight cotton in two colors
size I crochet hook
6 mm safety eyes or black embroidery thread
tapestry needle
how to do the bobble stitch:
(yo, insert hook in stitch, yo and draw through stitch. yo and draw through first 2 loops on hook) repeat in same stitch until you have 6 loops on hook. yo and draw yarn through all 6 loops on hook.
head:
leaving a 12” tail, ch2.
9 sc in 2nd st from hook. Join with sl st.
round 1: bobble in same stitch. sl st in next st, 1 sc in next stitch, (bobble in next stitch, sl st in next st, 1 sc in next stitch) Repeat once to finish round. [3 bobbles completed]
round 2: (3 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 st) repeat twice more to finish round. Join with sl st to first sc.
round 3: bobble in same stitch, sl st in next st, sc in next st, (bobble in next st, sl st in next st, sc in next st) repeat 3 more times to finish round [5 bobbles completed]
face:
attach new color by pulling up a loop in same stitch:
sc in next st and each stitch around for a total of 16 stitches. repeat for four more rows.
legs:
(ch13, sc in second ch from hook and next 11 ch. sl st in next 2 stitches) repeat 7 more times for a total of 8 legs. Fasten off and weave in end.
hanging chain:
pull up 12″ tail through top of head. Pull up loop with tail yarn through one of the sc at top of head. ch 10. put hook through sc on opposite side of top of head and pull remaining tail through loop. Pull tail to inside and secure by weaving into stitches or tying a knot.
Put safety eyes or embroider eyes at second row of face, one or two stitches apart. (put safety eyes within a stitch, not between stitches so they won’t push through the larger spaces between stitches)
Rub a dub dub – jellyfish in the tub!

These are adorable! I have had issues with cotton thread “bleeding” in the past when used to make dishcloths. Any suggestions to keep the color so these stay looking so cute?
Soak in cold water and vinegar to set the colors then wash.
