A recent reupholster job of my son’s craft table left me wondering what other projects I could make with laminated cotton. I’ve been playing around with the material for the last few weeks, making a few of Carli’s reusable snack baggies and some wet bags for cloth diapers. There are a lot of great Sew and No-Sew ideas on Pinterest for using laminated cotton.
Here are a few reasons why laminated cotton is so great.
– It wipes clean with a damp cloth, and is washable in the sink, dishwasher, and washing machine.
– It is water resistant. (Makes a great rain coat!)
– It is pliable, unlike it’s previous versions. You can fold it up and store it in your car or RV.
– It is 100% food safe so you can use it as a picnic table cover or place mat.
– It is BPA, lead, and PVC free. It is also CPSIA complaint, unlike oilcloth which has chemicals in it.*
– There are over 100 prints to choose from by large manufactures such as Riley Blake, Robert Kaufman, Michael Miller, Alexander Henry, Amy Butler, as well as many others.
* The manufacturers listed have been verified CPSIA compliant.
