Are you following a resolution for the new year for better health? Weight loss? Cleaner eating? Me too! If you’re focusing on better body practices, you just can’t go wrong with increasing your water intake. Especially if that means decreasing or cutting out sugary beverages!
My husband and I visited St. Lucia last year for our anniversary. The island was beautiful and the people very friendly. I was inspired by my trips to the spa, where a large cold frosty water jug full of fruit was offered. It was not only beautiful and inviting, it was absolutely delicious and refreshing.
Since I’ve returned home, I’ve made it a practice to regularly make flavored water to encourage my family to drink up! You can make it with pretty much any fruit you have in the fridge. This round I used: Watermelon, berries, chopped mint, and lemons.
The watermelon over-powered the other flavors so next time I would either omit the berries or give them a good smashing before adding them in . I did love the color they added to the jug.
Fill your carafe with ice first, add the fruit, then pour in the filtered water and give it a good stir!
One of our favorites is cucumber water – light and tasty!
Slice cucumber and limes, roughly chop mint, put over ice, and add filtered water. You can thank me later.
Just like the spa! If you’d like to detox from soda or other sugary drinks, give this a try! You can drink immediately, however the flavors tend to get stronger the longer it sits. You can keep this in the fridge or leave it out in a spouted jug for up to 24 hours.
Refresh yourselves, Crafty Friends!
