Fall is in the air! The kids are back in school, the leaves are changing colors, mornings and evenings now require a light jacket, and my morning coffee is no longer iced but hot and steamy once again! Oh how I love the fall. Time to put the flower pots back in the shed and begin decorating for the festive fall season.
This week, we will be sharing a potpourri of pumpkin decor ideas. Here is a sneak peek! Check back every day for a new idea and tutorial.
Let’s start with our fabulous no-sew pumpkin tutorial!
I love walking through the fabric isle of the craft store, even though I don’t own a sewing machine. Please don’t judge me If I would have had any girl children I am sure I would have learned to sew by now but my sisters are all so talented in the sewing arena, I typically rope them into sewing me things in exchange for dinner!
I digress….
This particular day at the craft store I found the cutest Halloween fabric and decided that I could make something with it without sewing. So crafty friends I share with you… n0-sew pumpkins!
You will need: Styrofoam balls, 2 coordinating fabrics, & pinking shears.
Start by cutting the bottom off the balls using a bread knife and cutting board.
This will give your Styrofoam balls a base and enable them to sit flat.
Using pinking shears, cut a piece of fabric into a square large enough to cover a styrofoam ball when all edges of the fabric have been gathered at the top.
Using the same shears, cut a long strip of your coordinating fabric to use as a tie. Gather the fabric from all sides and tie it up tight at the top of the ball.
Trim the excess fabric from the top using your pinking shears.
Now repeat with coordinating fabric!
Bibbiti Bobbiti Boo…you have a fabulous pumpkin display that is as easy as waving a magic wand. Now get the barrel ready for the apple bobbing, heat up some cider, and let the fall festivities begin!!
Happy fall, Crafty Friends!!
