Ravelry is my favorite place to search for crochet patterns – there are so many that I want to try! Here’s one I’ve been eyeing for awhile – Crocheted Leaves – for the Naked Branch. I absolutely love the vibrant colors the pattern designer chose and have daydreamed about how I could display these sweet little leaves in my girl’s rooms. I decided to cover my own naked branch with green leaves and a delicate little white blossom to help hurry spring along, which is such a nice time of year here in Arizona – warm, with the scent of citrus blossoms in the air. It’s also the calm before the sweltering summer days. I can’t wait for her arrival!
Here’s my pattern for the little citrus blossom:
In a magic loop, ch 3, dc, ch 3, sl st. (this makes your first petal). Continue until you have the desired amount of petals (I used 5) then finish off.
Thought I’d share just in case your home could also use a little touch of Spring.
Well, aren’t you the Craziest Gardener of the Month??
So, so, creative. I just might have to copy this one.
Lord know we have enough downed branches and sticks out back.
hugs
Gerry
I love this and am trying unsuccessfully to make that white blossom. Is there any way you could describe to me how to make it I would really appreciate it
Hi Hannah, I’m happy to help. Which part are you having trouble with?
These flowers are so cute! Thanks for sharing. But i was hoping you might also be able to post how to make the leaves.
Hi Danny,
The pattern for the leaves can be found in the Naked Branch link at: http://easymakesmehappy.blogspot.com/2010/05/crocheted-leaves-for-naked-branch.html
Enjoy!
Hi carli, I’m in LOVE with these little blossoms! I’m having some trouble though, when you make your magic loop do you make it first with a certain number of loops inside your loop or is the first stitch you make in the loop the beginning of your 3 chain?
When you make your 3 chains do you dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, then chain 3 again and slip stitch in the same st or the next st?
Sorry! I’ve been trying to figure it out for hours (pathetic I know!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Yours are beautiful!
Thanks!!
~bekah
hi Bekah,
I hope I’m reading your question correctly. If not, feel free to respond back. All of my stitches are done inside the loop, not in the chain 3. I create all of my “petals” prior to drawing the loop closed. Hope that makes sense!
Hi, I am also trying to make your beautiful little flowers but where are you doing the slip stitch? That’s the part where it gets confusing for me since there is no other chain beside it to do a sl in? Thanks! So excited to re-use my winter branches for this project. I may even spray paint them white to bright up even more.
Hi Stephanie,
All stitches are done in the center loop. Hope that helps!
Oh, thanks! I don’t know why but I couldn’t wrap my brain around the fact that I could slip stitch into the magic ring. It came out perfect! How did you attach the flower and leaf to the branches? They seem to sit perfectly on your branches.
Hot glue is my best friend. Unfortunately when I moved, I found my pretty branch had broken into 3 pieces during the move. I was so sad! I was able to fix it with some glue but I think I will soon re-do it. It’s so silly and simple but it is seriously one of my favorite pieces in my house. HA!
How pretty Carli! I’m often tempted to bring spring blossom into the house but it never lasts. Here’s the perfect compromise – and you can keep it for ever! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing this pattern, I used it with little yellow buttons to make forget me nots to embellish a headband ear warmer for my mom. It’s the Alaska state flower 🙂
