Meet oldest brother, Art and BFF sister-in-law, Cindee! They are expecting their 2nd baby boy in early December and we are so excited to bring another baby into the family.
As you can see by this picture, they do make the cutest little boys, ever. Two year old Corey is going to be a big brother!
Naturally, I have baby crafting on the brain. I found some incredibly cute crocheted rattle patterns. The first one is a cute birdy on a branch rattle from Mamachee on Etsy. The pattern is very well written and crochets up quickly. Next time I will use a slightly smaller crochet hook so that my stuffing doesn’t show through.
The next one is a cute little mushroom that I made into a rattle, isn’t it perfect for that?, from Make Little Things by Hattalahutta. I couldn’t figure out how I might go about making my rattle, well, rattle! I knew I wouldn’t be able to find a plastic Easter egg this time of year and kinder eggs are not sold here in the USA. I asked mom to send me some kinder eggs so I could use those for my rattle and a moment later, my impatience settled in. Mom told me to use an old film canister and put beans in it. Moms definitely know best, don’t they!? So, in each rattle is a film canister half filled with pinto beans. I’m betting smaller beans such as lentils or even grains of rice would be even better.
If it was up to me, I’d make each of these in all possible colors but I don’t think a baby needs 15 rattles. I’ll continue to make them in hopes of more babies in my future, though, (and no, not my own – four is quite enough for me, thank you very much!)
Congrats!! (and yes – they do make the cutest baby boys!- I so want to pinch those cheeks though!)
Me too, Ria! I just love that kid!
Swing by a pet store and pick up some kitty toys 🙂 I like the little balls with the bells inside…but they make rattly ones too! Usually no more than 50 cents 🙂
Awesome idea, Amy! I’ll give that a try with my next one!
Your rattles look so great! and I love that mushroom rattle….lucky BFF to have such a crafty friend. Handmade gifts are the best, especially for sweet sweet babies! And how lucky that you bestie is married to your brother…no fair! ( :
