I wanted to make something special for my good friend Kim who came to visit me here in Greece. She raved about the handknit cotton washcloths in the guest bathroom and vowed to take up knitting herself. (She reports that her lessons are going well and she’s already completed a pink barbie blanket. So far, so good!) Kim is great – the kind of person who laughs easily and spreads sunshine wherever she goes. I thought she should have some handknit washcloths of her own, but I wanted them to be different – fun enough for Kim.
I think Flower Power Washcloths are perfect for her. She can scrub her face with spring daisies and hang cool green Leaf Washcloths in the shower. The leaf washcloth pattern has two different kinds of leaves. You can make a garter stitch leaf:
or a stockinette stitch leaf:
or one of each! They’re so fun to make – I’ll whip up dozens before I’m through.
You inspired me, Kimmie Mou! Flower Power! xxxooo
Very cute 😀 I love whimsical items like that.
You’ve got the fever…it’s a good thing…
I’m going to have to make some of these for my basement island bathroom!
You have an island bathroom? As in tropical? Sounds fantastic!
They are so fancy and not just a simple square.. I love them.
Wow, those are so cute!
I like that you always find something different to make.
Keeps us interested! And wanting to try out everything. lol
I love to give washcloths as gifts. You’ve inspired me to do something other than lacy squares!
Hey Beth! I think washcloths make great gifts too.. Of course, then there’s the problem of starting the handknit washcloth addiction, along with continual requests for more. Some friends are just worth it, though! 🙂
Hi, just recently found your blog and love all the crafty posts. I’m working on a stack of these cloths for my newly renovated guest bathroom. Thanks for the inspiration!
Aren’t they fun? So great to fill the washroom with scrubby flowers! Bet yours are beautiful! Thanks for hanging out with us. ♥
