If you are my sister-in-law, my brother’s girlfriend (no, my other brother…really!) or my Grandma, well, sadly you’ve gone too far. I tried to give you fair warning, but you ignored my title and sadly, because of that, you now know what I’m contributing to your Christmas stocking this year. Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas? You may think I’ve lost all sense, but I’ve been crafting stocking stuffers for months now! I’ve even completed 9 of the 16 retro-style Christmas stockings that we’ll be using for the family stocking stuffer party planned this year.
I promise to post our Retro Christmas Stocking pattern and tutorial in the coming weeks.
Back on topic – believe it or not, I found this fantastic eco friendly crochet pattern online! It’s available through Lion Brand Yarns You do have to register (free) to access the apple slice tawashi pattern. “Tawashi” (pronounced TAH-WASH-EE), are little Japanese-inspired dish scrubbers that have become quite popular, and how could they not? They are so darn cute! You don’t have to use them for dishes – they can be used for the face or the body or anything else that needs regular scrubbing. There are crochet patterns all over the internet for cute tawashis – flowers, animals, even simple circular designs. They are super fun to make – easy, almost instant gratification!
I’m hanging these apple slice tawashi’s over the top of some natural Meyer’s basil liquid dish soap and popping them into the stockings of the girls in my family. Just my attempt to add a little crafty shine to their everyday.
If you try the pattern, leave a comment to let me know how you like it! If you already have a favorite tawashi pattern, let me know where to find it!
