Are you loving the new succulent trend as much as I am? They are so pretty and require very little care. You can find small succulents at just about any garden center now-a-days and it’s super easy to plant a succulent garden!
Here’s what you’ll need to plant a beautiful succulent garden:
- A decorative bowl, teacup or your choice pot with a hole drilled in for drainage.
- Cactus and Succulent Potting Mix
- Decorative rocks
Step 1 – Place about an inch of rocks at the bottom of the bowl, cup or pot. This helps to enhance drainage.
Step 2 – Fill the container about 2/3 of the way with the succulent potting mixture. It’s important to use soil specific to succulents and cacti because it is known for better drainage. Plant succulents in the desired location in the pot ensuring that the level of the soil remains the same as it was in the pot.
Step 3 – Fill the remainder of the pot with the substrate leaving a little bit of room at the top to add your decorative rocks.
Step 4 – Admire frequently!
Some succulents require at least half a day of full light to be happy but many adapt well to low light areas. Haworthias and Gasteraloes are a few of the succulents that do especially well indoors. When you water them, be sure to water thoroughly and allow the soil to dry out before watering again.
