If you’ve seen Carli’s pattern for Retro-Style Christmas Stockings, you’ll love these little miniature versions!
I took her assembled pattern to my copier and shrunk it down to my desired sizes. I tried several different sizes before deciding on the keepers. If you like the size of my completed projects, then the work is done for you. The attached pdf contains a 30%, 35%, and 50% versions of the original pattern.
These mini versions are sewn together in just the same way as our original retro stockings. Simply cut out the pattern pieces for the size you want then follow the step by step directions HERE.
To make the 30% sized stockings, you will need a 5.25″ tall by 7″ wide piece of fabric for the body and 3″ tall by 5″ wide piece for the top. This lip balm sized stocking would be cute presented in one of Carli’s folded paper boxes. You could also used it as a stocking stuffer with your daughter’s favorite lip color or mascara inside! It measures approx. 4.75″ x 3″ when finished.
To make the 35% sized stockings, you will need a 5.75″ tall by 9″ wide piece of fabric for the body and 3.5″ tall by 5.5″ wide piece for the top. This size is adorable for an ornament. It measures approx. 5.25″ x 3.5″ when finished.
To make the 50% sized stockings, you will need a 8.75″ tall by 12″ wide piece of fabric for the body and 5″ tall by 8″ wide piece for the top. I used this size as a silverware holder on my dining room table. It measures approx. 8″ x 5.25″ when finished.
Here are some tips when making your own mini stockings:
– To hide the cuff seam, leave the body right sides together and place the cuff on the outside of it. Then when you have sewn around the circle, flip it all right side out.
– To add a ribbon/string during the creation process, slide it top down between the cuff and the stocking before sewing the cuff on. I used an 8″ piece of baker’s twine on mine.
Shrinking patterns is so much fun. I hope you enjoyed these little stockings as much as I did. The Retro Stockings Pattern is truly versatile, and would look great in any size. Hmm, Jumbo Retro Stockings…. well, maybe next year.

Fine Print: We are absolutely flattered that our crafty friends would want to make cute items from our original copyright patterns to sell in their online shops or brick and mortar stores. We are thrilled to grant that permission. We do, however, request that anywhere the item is for sale, (on each and every online listing OR on each item in your brick and mortar store that a Simply Notable pattern has been used), that you link back to us here at Simply Notable so others can enjoy the same free pattern you utilized. When you sprinkle the Simply Notable love back our way in the form of links, it lets us know how much you appreciate the free patterns we’ve shared. The only hard line we draw here at Simply Notable is that the free patterns themselves absolutely cannot be sold.
