Spring has arrived in our part of the country (or at least that’s what my allergies are telling me). In an effort to welcome it officially, I asked the ladies of Simply Notable to share a project that said “Hello” to the awakening of Spring. Some of us brought a pop of color into our homes, and others kick started their garden inspiration. Here is what we came up with:
Cindee crafted a sunny flower pot line-up, bright with daisies. She stenciled the letters with acrylic paint and secured a Gerber daisy into a piece of Styrofoam within each pot. Trimming them with butterflies made them even more Spring-like! The pots are the perfect addition to her beautiful back porch.
Mom used her trusty wood burner to transform wooden spoons into plant markers . This technique would be great to make your own herb or garden markers. You can freehand in your own handwriting, or print out decorative fonts to copy onto the spoons before burning.
Carli made a wooden hello sign. She cut vinyl letters with a Cricut machine and sprayed the wood with satin spray paint. She lightly distressed the sign with a few strokes of sandpaper. The sign adds a great pop of color to her neutral kitchen.
I decided on a mug rug because not only do I love to use them, I’m also slightly obsessed with making them :-). If you are a member of the Ravelry Simply Notable group, you likely noticed our recent mini mug rug exchange. If you haven’t seen the thread, do go and check out all the great mug rugs our members exchanged with one another! They are inspiring! For my own nod to spring, I created this hello mug rug for my partner. I was so happy with it that I didn’t stop at that – I made another for myself and a few extras for Auntie Em’s Crafts – my Etsy Shop!
I hope these ideas have given you some inspiration to say your own hello to Spring. Feel free to share your completed “Hello Spring” projects with us on our Crafty Friends Flickr page! We would love to see the colorful projects you come up with.
I hope Spring is arriving at your door soon!
