And now with Tour de Fleece winding down, it’s time for the Ravellenic Games. Teams have been forming for awhile now and Team Notable members are beginning to plot and plan their projects.
We’ll be awarding medals in the form of prizes and we have a wonderful sponsor who’s donated a huge wedge style bag, large enough to hold the heftiest project! Our gold medal prize was donated by Susan at Ocean Patch Creations.
This large zippered project bag features a beautiful asian-style mumm flower print with swirls and leaves, all in a deep indigo blue! This great Alexander Henry fabric is on both front and back, the inside lining is solid navy blue and a navy zipper tops it off! A detachable strap make for easy opening. Bold and beautiful! Size: Approx. 14.5 x 7 inches with a 2.75 inch flat bottom and a 5.5 inch strap
Since I’m not eligible for prizes, I took the opportunity to purchase my own large wedge bag from Ocean Patch Creations etsy store. I found one in the sweetest Geisha Girl print and even snatched up the perfect little zipper notions pouch to coordinate with it! I do love my bag. It’s even large enough to hold baby blanket projects. The blanket shown that I’m knitting is the Chevron Baby Blanket by those crafty geniuses at Purl Soho.
Our silver medal prize is a beginning spinning kit, made up of a top whorl drop spindle and 2 oz of undyed Corriedale roving. Spindle is 1.7 ounces and crafted from maple.
Our bronze medal prize is in the works. Rumor has it that it may be a popular, sought after yarn brand in a gorgeous shade of coppery bronze! It’s being donated by our Ravelry Group Member, FlocknFiber. Thanks Lisa!
Cast on date for the Ravellenic Games coincides with the start of the Olympic Games in London: July 27th and ends August 12th. There’s a nifty Time Zone Calculator that will help you determine what time that is in your neck of the woods. Here’s a list of the basic rules and the list of events you’ll enter your project in.
If you’re contemplating a Ravellenic Game project, pop into our Ravelry Group and join the team! We’re ready to cast on some ambitious projects – I’m personally attempting a lace weight cardi, so we need all the cheerleader’s we can get!
