I must tell you about one of my very favorite weekly events. In case you haven’t ever heard of it, Bountiful Baskets is a small food co-op that offers fruit and veggie baskets for a fraction of the cost that you can purchase the same amount of produce in the grocery store. I’ve been getting baskets for about a year now and it is certainly the best quality and best tasting produce I’ve encountered! They even co-op 100% organic produce. Why am I telling you about Bountiful Baskets, you ask? Well, I haven’t gotten one since I moved from Arizona to Utah and I’m feeling deprived. Ha! I need to find my new location this week so I can get a fresh produce fix.
Bountiful Baskets are currently available in 19 states and are run by volunteers like you and I. You can view their current sites and get more information here and they always welcome an interest in opening new sites in your area. They open up orders on Monday and you can order through Tuesday then pick up your basket at the locale of your choosing on Saturday morning. There is a pretty strict time frame for picking up your basket. If you forget to pick it up, there are no refunds – your order will be donated to your local fire department.
I’ve fallen in love with Bountiful Baskets over the last year and wanted to tell our crafty friends about it. Next year I hope to start my small garden and make my own Bountiful Baskets but until then, I’m happy to have some yummy produce available.
